Cycling in Cyprus

As the professional cycling teams that train in Cyprus can attest to, Cyprus can be a cyclist's paradise with it's good weather and relatively quiet country roads. 

Cyprus is great for bike riding, near the coast a lot of the terrain is flat and you can drink in the sight of the beautiful blue ocean, further inland you can get away from the main roads onto the tracks and trails and really see the parts that other holiday makers rarely see.

With it's varied terrain, many fire roads and donkey tracks as well as fantastic views, Cyprus can be a great place for mountain biking. Most tracks are not mapped, so some riders may find it worthwhile to initially hire a guide.

During the hotter months of the year, the Troodos mountains is an excellent place for riding as temperatures are cooler than on the coast. 

Bicycles are available to rent in all resorts and are an enjoyable way of getting around resort. Please check that the bike is in good mechanical order before you set off. The Cyprus Tourist Organisation (CTO) provides maps of cycling routes throughout the island, or you can contact the Cyprus Cycling Federation.
