Hiking & Walking in Cyprus

Perhaps the best way to see a country is on foot.

Cyprus has numerous signposted paths or nature trails, some more challenging than others, but all are a feast for the senses, especially in the springtime when you can experience the sights, sounds and smells of nature at first hand.

If you love the great outdoors or want to improve your fitness, hiking is ideal. There are more than 200 kilometres of well-marked hiking trails on the island, including a number of popular hiking routes such as those in Troodos area, the Akamas Peninsula, the Aphrodite Trail, the Adonis Trail branch and the Avakas Gorge. Trails are signposted, giving hikers information on the local flora, fauna and geology.

The island offers many opportunities to get off the beaten track end explore the countryside. Booklets detailing some of the nature trails in the Troodos mountains, including the Caledonian Falls, have been produced by the CTO.
