Local Buys:
Leather – Manufactured locally, shoes and sandals are of reasonably prices and well styled. Handbags, belts plus soft leather clothing that can be made to measure are also good buys.
Lacework – Produced principally at Pano Lefkara, a small traditional village located between Limassol, Larnaca and Nicosia.
Basketry – Another distinctive product in decorative shapes and colours, especially found in the Paphos district. You can find reed products at the centrally covered markets of Nicosia, Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca as well as Yeroskipou and Liopetri villages.
Silver – In the form of Jewellery and Filigree and can also be found in the small village of Pano Lefkara in the form of authentic cutlery.
Copperware – The copper industry remains a source of Cypriot price. All manner of hand crafted can be found including copper pots, saucepans and bowls.
Ceramics – There are numerous ceramic workshops in many of the main towns. Visit the small village Lemba just outside Paphos, home to the Cyprus College of Art.
Optical Goods – High Quality glasses at the numerous opticians cost about the same (less VAT) as in North America, owing to direct importation and thus much less than in Britain.
