Cultural Centre of Occupied Ammochostos, Deryneia

Get some background on the complex political situation in Cyprus, relating to the Turkish occupation of the northern part of the island.

 

Marine Life Museum, Ayia Napa

(Agias Mavris 25)

This museum was set up by the Pierides Foundation and consists mostly of the private collection amassed by naturalist George Tornaritis. As well as seeing fossilized shells, stuffed fish, sharks, sea birds and turtles, you can also learn a bit about marine biology.

 

Pierides Larnaca Foundation Museum

(Zinonos Kitieos)

Larnacas best museum houses a stunning collection of artefacts and antiquities collected by Dimitrios Pierides in the 1st century. Here you’ll find Mycenaean, Roman and Byzantine treasures.

 

Yeroskipou Folk Art Museum

Three kilometres east of Paphos, this varied and beautiful collection of Cypriot Folk Art includes some of the best loukoumi on the island.

 

Ethnographical Museum, Paphos

A private collection of artefacts and tools dating from the Neolithic Age, all housed in a villa built in 1894.

 

Byzantine Museum, Paphos

(Andrea Ioannou St.)

A collection of artefacts from the Byzantine period, including icons from the 12th to 18th centuries.

 

Paphos District Archaeological Museum

(Digeni St.)

A collection of local antiquities dating from the Neolithic Age onwards, including gold jewellery and Roman glass.

 

Phidias Art Gallery, Paphos

(Ch. Philippides St.)

Along with the Kristus Fine Art Gallery (Palamas Square), the exhibition space houses small permanent collections of contemporary works by local artists.

 

Archeological Sites, Museums and Other Places of Interest
Important notes:
1. All museums and archeological sites remain closed on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Easter Sunday (Greek Orthodox)
2. During the rest of the Public Holidays the major archeological sites remain open from 09:00 - 17:00 hrs (09:00 - 19:30 hrs summer)
3. Opening and closing times of Museums and Archeological sites as well as entrance fees are subject to alterations without notice. During the summer period, the archeological sites stay open longer.
