DRIVING IN CYPRUS
We highly suggest car hire for those who want to explore the island at their leisure. Your representative can offer you car hire rates at very competitive rates. Just ask your representative to assist you to decide the type of car and length of hire you require, and advise you of possible places to visit.
Petrol is sold by the litre and 15% VAT is included in all prices.
Petrol Stations stay open:
Monday-Friday: 06.00-19.00hrs (Apr-Sept)
Monday-Friday: 06.00-18.00hrs (Oct-Mar)
Wednesday: 06.00-14.00hrs, Saturday: 06.00-15.00hrs
Vending machines operate during non-working hours, on weekends and on holidays.
Important Information on Car Hire:
Drivers must produce a full valid driving licence from their country of residence, held for at least three years.
Usually a rental day is based on a 24hrs period.
All cars are insured for a maximum number of passengers.
Child seats are required by law for small children and should be requested at time of booking.
During driving the driver should his/her hands free at all times in order to have full control of the vehicle. Therefore the use of a mobile phone is strictly prohibited.
Car Type / Suitability
Specific make and model of cars cannot be guaranteed; the cars appearing on vouchers are for guidance only and may be substituted locally for an alternative similar or upgraded car. The customer is responsible for ensuring the car group they rent is of an adequate size for all passengers and luggage.
Parking Fees / Traffic Fines
Customers will be liable for any parking offences or traffic or congestion fines incurred against the rental vehicle whilst in their care. Police speed cameras are in operation on all major roads.
Extra Insurances
Available for a small extra fee, such as tyres, windscreen and additional drivers.
Fuel
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be paid at the time of delivery. Fuel is not refundable.
Mopeds
Should you decide to hire a moped, ensure that you always wear a helmet and appropriate clothing i.e. not shorts or swimwear, and take out full insurance cover.
